Homesick 2001

Homesick 2001 is a free life simulator that runs in your browser, made by Hyperlabs, the creative practice of Portal Studio. It looks like a mid-2000s PC game: a canal terrace at golden hour, a café, a boat that keeps passing, and townspeople going about their day.

Keep your sim fed, rested and entertained. The fourth need, Reality, drains on its own. As it drops, the world gets dreamy, creepy, absurd and funny, and the graphics themselves decay until it looks like a PS1 game.

How to play

• Arrow keys or WASD: walk. Space: jump.
• Drag: look around. Enter: zoom. P: map view.
• Click people and things to interact with them.
• C: cinematic mode, for recording clips.
